Guitar heroes were once like you
I had lots of desire and no skills when I first set out to learn to play the guitar. The guitarists I looked up to were Clapton, Segovia and the Beatles.
The guitar seemed to me to be a spellbinding instrument and I just had to learn how to play. I cared about nothing except how to learn guitar.
My friends and records were my first teachers.Online learning was non-existent as was the internet. With all of the information out there now it is much easier for you to learn guitar than it ever was for me. Sometimes, however when you have so much knowledge it is easy to stray off course from your initial objective. It can be difficult but you need a course of action, a plan, a system of learning to play guitar.
With all of the info out there it can be foolish to pay 50 dollars an hour for someone to show you how to tune a guitar or what the strings are named and so forth. If you want to study at 2 a.m. with your online course you can do that. Not too many teachers would appreciate a call at 2 in the morning. The videos that are used these days are top notch and are a valuable tool for learning.
When I started to learn guitar I had a big desire and I learned from many different sources. You may not be able to learn all by yourself so easily. Happily there is another alternative these days and you are lucky to be able to take advantage of it. You will of course try many books on your own. When you do I recommend folk guitar books as they have all of the basic strums with very familiar songs.
A teacher can be a critical component of your learning in any genre, be it singing or learning to play piano or guitar. Sadly, the teacher can also be not a right fit for you as well. If your teacher is classically trained he may not know much about rock and roll. You can burn through a lot of money going to different teachers, so it can be a blessing to have an online program as you learn the basics and beyond.
Learning guitar can be a baffling process at first. The keyboard of the piano is straightforward, easy to see and comprehend but the guitar is not so. On the guitar, the same chord can be played in different positions with no relation to each other. With the unclear visual aspect and the complicated right and left hand methods as well as tab and tunings, it can easily be too much for the beginner, causing them to give up.
You are so fortunate to have before you this wonderful journey to learn guitar; enjoy every minute of it. You will not be sorry.
